Hazards in the Home

We don't often think about the everyday dangers found in our homes when it comes to our pets. Many items considered safe for human consumption, however, pose a significant risk to our furry companions. Most people are aware that dark chocolate is dangerous for our pets, but did you know the following can be also?

From the "101 Things You Didn't Know Could Harm Your Pet" by the ASPCA:

Harmful Foods
27. Avocados
28. Chocolate (all forms)
29. Coffee (all forms)
30. Onions and onion powder
31. Garlic
32. Grapes
33. Raisins
34. Macadamia nuts
35. Alcoholic beverages
36. Moldy/spoiled food
37. Salt
38. Fatty foods
39. Gum, candies or other things sweetened with xylitol
40. Tea leaves
41. Raw yeast dough
It is best to reserve human food for humans, but you should never allow your pet to ingest any of these products. It is also a good idea to store these items where your companion can not find them.
