Canine Massage
While we humans LOVE a good massage, we very rarely think of it as treatment for our pets, but we SHOULD! Mandy Stickle, West Ridge Animal Hospital's massage therapist, has worked wonders on many dogs now. I can think of two dogs in particular who were so painful, they were scrunched up in pain, hardly able to walk in the door. After massage, they were able to walk out the door, heads held high.
Besides arthritis, though, massage can also help with other issues such as hypothyroidism, liver disease, and kidney disease. Due to having to lay still in one place for an extended period, older dogs (and younger, too!) can also benefit from a post-surgical/ post-dental massage.
Massage is definitely worth checking into!
