West Ridge Dr. & Staff Provide Vaccination Help to Front-Line Communities

Dr Combs and West Ridge veterinary assistants Beau and Ezequiel participated in a vaccination clinic arranged by the Weld County Sheriff's Animal Control Unit. These clinics are held for income eligible pet owners in underserved areas in Weld County. Rabies vaccinations are critical in these outlying communities as they are on the front-line of the companion animal, wildlife interface. Effective vaccination programs for these areas will provide a first line of defense against the spread of skunk rabies and the other variants that are making in-roads to Weld County.

The doctors and animal nursing staff of West Ridge participate in these throughout the year because we know how important vaccination is. It is also important to us to serve the animal community of Weld County at large especially those that come from underprivileged homes. In addition to rabies, the clinics provide canine distemper and bordetella vaccines as well as feline distemper vaccines.

Over the last several years West Ridge has volunteered over a hundred man hours and vaccinated over two hundred animals that may have otherwise not received preventative medicine.
