Turtle Dangers

West Ridge Animal Hospital is currently caring for two wild Western Box Turtles with injuries....




This girl had the unfortunate luck of being run over by a car. The back half of her shelf was smashed so Dr C used a fiberglass repair kit to fix her up. Above, you see one of our technicians blowing air on it to expedite the drying process. If you look closely, you will see where Dr combs wired the pieces of shell together.



Here you can see the cracks in her top shell.



And this picture is of a poor little guy whose leg got cut by a lawnmower. It is sticking out because it is still too swollen to go in. He is being treated with antibiotics, and is expected to make a full recovery; at which time we will release him back to the wild.
