Beware: Puppy Scams
Public beware- there are devious scam artists out there that have turned to using puppies to lure in unsuspecting people.
Here is an excerpt from an article by Denver's 9News:
Internet want ads displayed pictures of "Tommy and Jeddy," precious bulldog puppies that supposedly needed good homes.
The telephone number on the ad was a Colorado exchange, but people who called were referred to a "missionary" in Nigeria. The man claimed to have recently moved from Colorado with an English bulldog that now had two 10-week-old puppies.
"We wired them $600 to ship the dogs here," said 25-year-old Jesi Toft. "Then they said there was a customs problem and they wanted more money."
These con artists will try to use anything they can think of to elicit strong emotions from the public. Please be careful to investigate any online claim before sending any money- or giving out any personal information.
